1. Start with the conversation you need
An enquiry form should give you enough information to take the next step. An electrician might need the job type, postcode and a way to contact the customer. A personal trainer might need the preferred coaching format and availability for an initial conversation.
Ask for a name, one practical contact method and a short description. Add other required fields only when you use the answer to respond. Keep sensitive details out of a general enquiry form and explain what you will do with the information in your privacy notice.
2. Ask for a working form, then inspect it
Open your FutureHost workspace and ask the AI to connect the form to the site’s hosted form service. Be explicit about the fields, button label, success message and where you expect enquiries to appear. A visually complete example still needs its recipient and integration checked before it becomes your business website.
Add a quote enquiry form with name, email, postcode and job description. Connect it to this site’s hosted form service, show a clear confirmation after successful submission and explain any validation errors next to the field. Do not claim success when delivery fails.
3. Make it easy to complete on a phone
Use a single-column layout, visible labels and a large submit button. Check that text remains readable when the keyboard is open and that any error message explains how to fix the field. Keep the button close to the end of the form.
Write a confirmation that tells the customer what happens next. Use an honest response expectation that you can meet. If calls are useful for your business, add a tap-to-call link as another contact route with your real opening hours.
4. Test the whole journey
Publish the changes and send a clearly labelled test enquiry from a phone using details you control. Confirm the submission appears in the workspace’s leads area and that any configured notification reaches the right inbox. Test an invalid email and an empty required field as well.
Submit once and check you receive one enquiry. If you see a success message but no lead, fix the integration before sharing the page. Remove test records when you finish if they are no longer useful.
- Does the form work on the live website, including a connected custom domain?
- Can the customer see errors and retry without losing their message?
- Can you find the enquiry and reply using the information provided?
5. Watch capacity and follow up
Free includes 10 hosted form leads per month. Website includes 250; the plan screen shows current limits for other plans. Review usage before promoting the site so a busy period does not leave you surprised by the allowance.
Check new enquiries regularly, answer the actual question and give a clear next step. Receiving an enquiry is separate from a customer choosing marketing emails: do not treat every person who contacts you as a newsletter subscriber.
